In the last 11 months, 388422 immigrants have been apprehended trying to cross the border towards the US. Borders should be better secured, that is what some people of america think, others says that there should be more men to protect the border. Texas is the preferred location by illegal immigrants to cross to the US. Texas has more than the half of apprehension than other state. This is the hot spot for humans and drugs. Republicans say that to solve this problem, the government should double the agents or improve the construction of a full border force, but others say that ans strategy should be established first. Undocumented immigrant population rose to 11.7 million in 2012. Most of the illegal immigrants come from central america. They think that in the Us can find a better future than their country can offer. Once they are established here, they help others to come.
ReplyDeleteObviously that the illegal immigration is quite sensitive subject for USA. Miguel Bustillo and Miriam Jordan, authors of this article, see the illegal immigration from negative prospective, which is negative by lots of reasons for US.
ReplyDeleteWriters quote mainly negative expressions from politicians, business owners, Country Chief Deputy Sheriff, chairman of the committee and many others. They have strategy of using important people's and leaders' negative comments concerning about the illegal immigration in US to support their opinion.
Here is one of the examples from the article:
"When I look at Washington's approach to border security, I see so much wasteful spending," ... "I see a fence that has more gaps than barriers and other measures that are just funneling illegal traffic to our ports of entry."
Quite negative opinion...
Although the author of the article have a neutral opinion to illegal immigration, he doesn't sees illegal immigration as a positive movement. He mentioned in article, first, to prevent this movement, American spent too much money, as said in article:"We have already spent some $75 billion on the border with relatively little to show for it," said Rep. Michael McCaul (R., Texas), chairman of the committee. The second is just because that the situations of those illegal immigration people's countries are not as good as the US, so that people wan to come to the here."The Central Americans have a much more difficult time trying to survive [in their native countries] than the Mexicans, so they keep coming," said Néstor Rodríguez, a sociology professor at the University of Texas who studies Central American migration.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it is an interesting subject. For a long time United State government have this kind of issue, and there is much more about the subject than we know. The illegal immigration doesn't take just the border area, but many people use other ways to get in United State illegally. For example, I heard some days ago about someone who get in to United State by a cruise. He was working in the ship but when the ship arrived in the harbor in California, he just left the ship without permission, in other words, illegally. But what makes the people comes to U.S. even illegally. We can see that the article gives a lot of negative points for the illegal Immigration, but also the article says that many people come to us to try a better life fleeing from a not good life in their home country. For example, Mr. Betancourth left his country because the persecution because he is gay.
ReplyDeleteThere are many people who want to live in the United States. Immigrants are trying to enter to the US without documents and all of them are risking everything to come there. They have a hope to find a better life and escape from their problems. All of them from different countries and have different reasons to come to the US such as economic desperation, or violence in their countries. But what is really interesting that Mexicans are still the majority of people who are trying to enter to the US. The reasons for this migration can be economic, social, political or environmental. But, I think the main reasons are geographical and economic. Mexico shares a border with the United States that is why Mexican migration has been so intense. Also, Mexico has economic problems and instability in this country force people to leave it and go to the US with hope to live happily and have better life.
ReplyDeleteThe statistics numbers show that Illegal immigrants crossing the US border has increased last decades, and mexicans are the majority of those illegal immigrants. The author blames the government because the government institutes the immigrant law, and give legal status them. Also, they spend a lot of money without having efficient plan. All and all, the government actions against illegal crossings do not work in good way, but somehow encourage and help the increase of crossings and apprehensions.
ReplyDeleteWell this is a controversial topic. Immigration has to be with the necessity of a better life for immigrants. The article gives some statistics of the last decades how the numbers of immigrant has increased. In my opinion, illegal immigration is not correct. Although immigrants have good reasons to come to the US, they are violating the laws. Laws are establish to protect us. Therefore, people must obey them as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteThe article talks about the fact of Illegal immigration has increased in the past month, it states some causes and consequences; however, this problem is not new and I think they need to think more deeply how to solve it. Sometimes I feel that USA has forgotten that this country was established by immigrants and this land belonged to the native americans. I think the solution is increase the number of working visas in every field; thus, this immigrants will pay taxes and the economy will increase. (To be continued...)
ReplyDeleteI think writer showed a negaive movement to the illigal immigrants- he listed many facts from the reports and quoted many speech which showed the crazy increasing illegal population, the increasing drug trafficking, many peole died or be caught by the officers. He showed many negative effects to the US so I think he againsts the illegal immigrations.
