  1. I agree with the result of this study. First, I think the BMI index is not really reflect the overweight and health. All indexes are not perfect. Second, I believe that having some stored energy reserves is good for health. For the obesity problem, it is not easy to fix, it is about the diet habits and physical characters. The only thing a society can do is encouraging a healthy diet habit. Except famine, there is no final solution for the obesity problem.

  2. I agree with the outcome of this study, because overweight people somehow have a healthier life. When they are sick and lose weight, the other parts of their body function very good. However, for slim people it is worse, because if they lose weight they are also loosing proteins and vital vitamins that they need in order to be healthy. Nevertheless, I believe that people with overweight can get really depressed, and that can be a huge factor to be or feel unhealthy. Society should address problems of obesity by creating awareness of this problem. They can help children to understand the importance of having a healthy life, with plenty of exercise.

  3. This article is mainly about the fact that being overweight may be beneficial for people to live longer than being thin or normal. The article shows us a general knowledge that being thin can help people to stay healthy as an example of a woman who exercises everyday and takes care her diet to lose her weight. After that, on the contrary, it argues that the general information might not be true. A recent research shows us that being overweight can be helpful for people to live longer.

  4. This article is very interesting and amusing. However, I differ in my opinion with information from one journal in this article. I agree that a little extra weight may not be a bad thing. However, I totally disagree with information published in the journal “American medical association” I think that their research is not correct and far away from the truth. According to this journal: “people who are overweight or obese live as longer even longer than those with an average body mass index.” It is ridiculous and absurd. Obese people cannot live longer than people with average weight, because they have a lot of problems in many noticeable aspects. They are limited in some activities and have some health issues. This makes their life harder and problematic. Overweight or obese people, do not have opportunity to enjoy the life in the way that other people with average weight do. Movement is very important in order to live happily and to have a fulfilling life. People who are not able to move properly cannot enjoy life by taking part in different activities and events. For instance, some obese people cannot ride bicycles, or climbing with their friends, it makes them unhappier and can cause some health problems. Also, obesity can cause many physical problems. Therefore, most people struggling with overweight and obesity cannot live longer than people with average body mass index. In my opinion, in order to live longer and do not have health problems obese people should change their eating behavior by consuming more healthier food with less fat and sugar. Additionally, they should exercise more and be more active in the way they can.

  5. Well, i totally disagree with the result. The result doesn't the factors why the people died. People who are overweight have a normal and active life, they work and exercise often. that is a really good point, but the main point of my disagreement is risk. Those overweight people don't take risk in the life. Many of the people who are thinner they are able and desire to do activities which risk of life is higher than the activities of the overweight people. So, thinner people risk more the life than the overweight people.

  6. I disagree with a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. I did a extensive research about what are the healthy BMI range and according to the person interviewed she has 27 BMI. It means that she is overwheit. I belive that this article is justifying the american lifestyle. Also I dont agree with the stament that they can reserve energy when they sick. For example, people in my country are healthy wthout to be overwheit. There should be a balance in our life, any extreme is not good. Furthermore like the article says the study misses information, because it is self-reported. It means that people can say things that are not true.

  7. According to the article, approximately 70% of Americans are overweighed or obese. Interestingly, extra weight, more precisely BMI between 25-35, is not that bad, says studies. People who carry little extra weight live longer and resist sickness better than people who have normal weight (BMI 18,5-24,9). BMI is not accurate to tell a person's health condition; however, the body shape, and extreme levels of obesity are serious risks of healthy condition.

  8. Pedro. This article explains why having a little of extra weight might not be as bad as people usually think. For example, when those people who are a little bit overweight are sick, they are more likely to recover faster than a slim person. It also talks about a study about IBM that shows that it is not accurate.

  9. I agree with the article. I think it is true that people who are i little bit overweight will be more healthy than others. Also, the article says that the shape of people do not always shows that they are being healthy. I know a many people who are thin and look very healthy but they have problems whit diabetes. In my opinion the best way to be healthy is by having good nutritional habits. If we eat well, I mean vegetables, fruit, barely process food, we will have more health. It is also important to remember that our body needs to be active. Exercise is a good way to keep it active.

  10. I agree, however, this can be a good justification for obesity if we aren't careful of a deeply thinking. I think that every person is different, and not every index is correct for everyone, its something about race, body type, gender, etc. Health is more than being overweight or not.

  11. I do not agree or disagree 100%. I agree with that it would be good to have a little extra weight in case to get sick and lose it, you still being healthy. Also it is true that thin people even though are apparently healthy, they are week inside.
I liked the studies, not only because it is interesting to know something that has always been view differently. It proves that stereotypes are not the real life, and old concepts should give a chance for new views. And above all, this news view of little over weigh is convenient to me. haha

  12. I can't say I totally agree with it. I think it is true that people with a little bit more fat won't get ill easily when they can't have enough time to eat well. However, I think the length of life time needs to be taken care of by exercises and healthy food, no matter you are in a good shape or a little bit over weight. So the point should be "exercises and health foods are important" rather than :overweight could be healthy". The overweight woman in the example also has fruits and exercises everyday.

  13. In my opinion, sometimes some magazines publish only part of the scientists research result. Lets' take a look on the outside world. Mostly people from well-developed countries weight more than they supposed to. And I am talking about not only some curtain group of people, I am talking about the majority, about the big percent of population. So, country want to have happy people, who live healthy life, who are satisfied with their life and bodies, so they can work productive. Well, in this case some kind of scientific research would definitely help out a lot to keep nation happy with their overweight and make them society members.
On the other hand, think about all of those people who are from third countries. They are thinner, in a way healthier. You may say they still don't live a long life. Well, if they don't live the longer life than people from develop countries, it;s not because they are thinner, but because their medical system doesn't work properly. And this is generally the only case.
