I've never seen this kind of contents of the article that made me surprised. This article show that there is a job which studies about the sports analytics in BYU for NBA and its role is significant. This job worker analyze the teams to build database of psychological measures and which metrics are predictive of actual performances. It will be helpful for the real players.
ReplyDeleteIt was my first time to think about the reason why many sports teams need statistics experts. I easily figured out the reason since there are many databases in sports teams. Most sports teams need some statisticians to compare and contrast improvements of the members or athletes. Sports don't seem to be scientific, but they actually do.They need more accurate statistics experts who can be helpful for their games. There is a supporting statement to my argument. According to the article, "A large focus of the project is intended to help the strength and conditioning coach tailor workouts to athletes who play different sports and positions. To do so, the students build a database of physiological measures and then analyze which metrics are predictive of actual performance on the field.".
ReplyDeleteWow. I played volleyball for 3 years in my high school for one of the best team in Brazil. I was not able to play in the professional team because i didn't have the age but i watched a lot of games and in volleyball game there is a lot of experts doing statistic and analyze the games. For a team that want to be a champion, all kinds of tool is welcome. The statistic is one of is very useful. For example, sometimes the teams has some playing addiction which means that can use just one player for a specific task or they use more one side of the court or field and the analyzer will do a precise analyzing about the game or specific player and they can use those information in benefit of the team.

I believe that sports need statistics because can help to do player evaluation, team strategy and draft Players have to be in shape to be in the field. Statistics helps a coach to chose players. Sports analytics can create efficient strategies for the team.

ReplyDeleteSo, one of the main reasons why statistics experrs are important in sport teams is because it is going to be easier to detect the weaknesses and streghts of the team. Also this can help as a motiver for the team.

They can show what things the team is doing good, the frequent mistakes, they can show the effort and the abilities of each player. also they can study the other teams and now what are their weaknesses and how they can win easily against the other team!

ReplyDeleteI would be mostly agree with David Sanchez, that statistics can show the level of the game and the team work development. In general it can show the weak sides and the strong sites, as well as the progress the tam made. So, for that the team has to have statistics experts, to do all the work for them!
