  1. I haven't been with someone who has experienced depression. However, I think this is a very interesting talk because it gives hope and helps people overcome this sore emotional problem. I believe that through jesus christ is it possible to overcome depression. We gotta focus on the possitive things of life and be happy. :)

  2. One of my family members is experiencing it right now. I won't write her name here for her sake. The depression she has last for last 10 years. I have met her only 2 months ago, she is a cousin of my fiance. So, I knew her problem from him. Her family almost lost hope for her to become normal again one day. But I also know that my fiance believes in her, and his believe has passed into me purposely, I believe. I just happen to believe in her, her positive future, and the happy life for her. When I saw her for the first time in my life, I just was honest to her and showed her how much i appreciate her and impressed with how string she is. I eventually found out how great she is, how nice she is, how smart she is in many different things. I couldn't stop my growing love for her. I was so impressed with her wish to keep a positive mood even though I saw how hard it was for her. One day I just told her how much I love her, and I also explained her why I fell this way! She was touched even though I didn't mean to do it. I got am email from her just recently, she says:
    'Hi Elena,
You probably didn't know, but when I feel something pretty strong I have a tendency to get it out by writing a poem about it. You've come to be my friend during a time that I've been struggling personally and I appreciate so much the unconditional love you've given me. It's helped a great deal. That's why I wrote this email for you. It's in an attachment, in case you were wondering. I love you and hope all is well with you.'' The poem she wrote was the most beautiful poem I ever read! It seems like this girl starts to blossom again, and only thing she needed is to feel love from her relatives, and that they accept her the way she is! I was able to show her how much I love her, which I truly love, and that I don't judge her for anything in the past, and suddenly she seem to be changed! It is such a miracle for me! And that is exactly what Jeffrey R. Holland was talking about. We should be more care and patient to these people, we should give them our love an don't expect anything back. That's how miracle can be started, I believe! :)

  3. Well first of all Elder Holland is one of the best teacher that church has. Second, this topic was given by inspiration from the Spirit of God. To be sincere i did not realized the huge impact that depression and mental s has on people. I have not had any experience like that in my life. However, now I can understand that this subject is very important. Elder Holland encourage those who are suffering from this to never lose faith in our Heavenly Father. Faith is the first principle of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Very important fact that Elder Holland pointed out.

  5. I like what Jeffrey R. Holland said about: “How do you best respond when mental or emotional challenges confront you?” I think that there are many people who suffer from some form of mental or emotional disorder and they need help and support from others. And as Holland said, even if people are struggling from any diseases they do not need to vote against life. There is always hope and help. One day they can be healed and be happy. In my opinion, we should help people who have a very difficult and hard time. In order to make their life easier, they should be surrounded by people who are responsive and willing to help them. Only in this case, the mental, emotional, or physical problems they have can be reduced or even solved.

  6. This is Pedro. I have been close to someone that who experienced feelings of depression. One of my relatives had depression in the past. It was complicated because we knew that we had to be around all the time in order to help her to recover from depression. In my opinion, people can only overcome depression with the assistance of their relatives.

  7. I loved this article. I think sometimes people believe that depression is only a matter you can control. I had experienced a short period of depression and my father too. So, I understand pretty well how this work. And I think that now I know how to help people suffering this problem.

  8. This article was amazing because Elder Holland give us an idea about how get over moments of depression. Ive been close to people with depression, and most of them are not members of Lds church. It has been very difficult for them to stop feeling depressed because they dont have this motivation and help that the gospel of jesus christ can bring to everybody.

  9. I loved that article. For many years I had helped and i am still giving my support, even though it is from another country, for my sister. She had been through hard moments in her life. I remember very clearly in my mind those days that all the family passed trying to help her. After more than 10 years, she is still struggling with depression, but in comparison with 10 years ago, I can say that I presence a miracle in my family.
