A large piece of the Chelyabinsk meteorite is recovered from a lake

This meteorite could have caused many deaths if it had hit a city. Is there a way to prevent this danger in the future?

  1. Well, I believe that in the future yes but it will need still a few years. It is inteeresting that many experts tell to people to be aware about the solar storm but they could help the people from that region to be aware of a meteorite. That is really strange for me. In my opinion they need to take care the thing that could affect the earth in small portion and after take care of the big issues.

  2. This is Kyusuk. This meteorite would make a lot of injures if it had hit a city. Its weigh was almost 10,000 tons and its speed was getting faster and its scale was getting larger when it passed the Earth's atmosphere. If it hit a city, I guess many people and cities were burnt. And, I think there will be no specific technology which can prevent this danger in the future. Humans can not fight against big nature like space. Of course, many spaceships and satellites are developed already to observe space, but big comets or meteorites won't be crashed by our technology. If its hit is expected to Earth, we are just supposed to pray that it would pass through Earth... Big nature is unknown and still we may not know the fact that was discovered.

  3. There is ways to know in advance when something like that is going to hit the earth, but there is no way to prevent accidents. It is because it is not possible to guess in advance exactly where it is going to hit because there are variation in the air what can change the route of the meteorito, and no technology could control that. So, maybe it is possible to prevent deaths by evacuate the area, and areas around, but not possible to prevent explosions and building's demolition.

  4. A meteor hit is the most unexpected and disastrous phenomenon on earth. It can kill thousands creators and species, even more it can change the earth surface. However, it depends on the size of a meteor. I believe that in next thousands years a big meteor won't hit and damage the earth immensely. But who knows, scientists can't prevent and sometimes can't predict it is coming. That's little scary.

  5. A meteor that exploid onthe earth surface no just can cause many deaths, also can damage the surface land. Unexpected disaster sometimes can not be predictable. Nevertheless, the evolution of technological advances can prevent a future colision of meteor. It will help authorities to evacuate citizens faster from the danger area.

  6. This article is very interesting and gave us a lot of new information about a meteor that exploded in February over the city of Chelyabinsk in Russia. There are some interesting facts were reviled about this meteor. For instance, it has weight more than 10,000 tons and 4.5 billion years old.

  7. Chelyabinsk is one of the cities in Russia. I have a lot of friends living in this city. I was talking to them right before the meteorite fell on the ground in the Chelyabinsk area. Few of my good friends there were injured. Others were hospitalized. So, to answer the question, yes there was a big mess. The city was not in fire or anything but there are a lot of buildings crushes all over the city. It happened because of the wave of the following stone-meteorite. Many people died not because of the meteorite itself but because of what the meteorite caused-the big sound, air, and hit wave. It happened during the meteorite was falling down, the speed of the sky stone was in readably high. It was another cause of destroyed places and buildings.
To prevent such thing is impossible, and it in not going to happen for another 50-80years I believe. It would say that even this case was unbelievable. Even if there are some comets or meteorites out there, in the space, it couldn't reach the earth. It couldn't hit the ground of our planet because of the atmosphere layers out there, it would burn the meteorite and ashes if it still would not reach the ground. I hope in our future the human race would reach that high point of progress that we would be able to predict and prevent such situations.
