  1. This is Kyusuk. This article deals with revealing apes' comforting each other as humans. I have never heard there is the species of bonobos. They were trying to console each other with empathy after fight or in distress like humans do when we are depressed and try to find someone who can give comfort to us. I know apes are very similar to us having low intelligence. But their competence is unbelievable! They are really related to human being.

  2. I think that the closest relative to humans are the apes. In this article, for example, the bonobos are consoling each other after they have discouragements. Many researches have shown that apes have the ability to communicate with each other. As a result, apes can perform different activities together. This is a great example of how apes communicate and feel. It can be very difficult for an ape to know if his relative is sad without communication.

  3. Apes are the closest animal to humans. Like the article describe Bonobos are socially competent, this apes like to cuddle and calm other their peers. Furthermore, apes can feel emphaty for others, even some humans can feel that emphaty. It is amazing how they respond to other´s emotion, being just animals. Another unveilable example is the care of orphans apes. For example, in the Olola ya Bonoboo sanctuary apes help to feel consolate their relatives.

  4. This article is very interesting and gave me a lot of new information about emotional behavior of apes. And I absolutely agree with the information in this article especially with following statement, "the way we develop our social and emotional skills and how we deal with the emotional world around us may be shared with that of our closest ape relatives".

  5. Apes are the closest animal to humans. Like Bonobos described from the article, they have emotions and can show it. They can even console each other, which the other animals (except human) can hardly show.

  6. The article itself is the great source for people who are interested in the connection between apes and human being like I am. :) I would like to say that this article give us alot of examples of our connection to apes by giving examples of Bonobos behavior. The way Bonobos acts reminds us the style of humans behavior. What is that if it is not a fact of our connection to apes? :)

  7. How closely related are humans and apes to each other?

Apes and humans are closely related with each other. Studies have shown that Apes are the closest species to us. They act in a similar way that we do in almost all the situations. They have self-awareness, they can communicate and they use tools to survive , as humans do. This is very interesting that Bonobos are able to comfort each other, even as humans would. :)

  8. Studies show that apes and humans have many similarities. Especially, apes have empathy, according to the research. Bonobos give hugs each other when one is scared. This behavior is same as humans.
