In my opinion... It will be possible for both to the past and future. Related with the past, we will only be able to travel in time and just look what happened, but we will not be able to change. It looks like in the Grandfather paradox. We cannot change the past. but just remind to learn from them then, apply in the future. Second relation, the future can be changed. We will be able to go to the future and look in each decision the results. In fact, the time machine will be your mind, remind all your past and have the chance to change your future.
I agree with the point of view that Thomas Roman points out. He states that traveling in the past is not possible because of the grandfather paradox. Furthermore, I also agree with the idea that is possible to travel to the future. Nevertheless, I only agree because it seems that makes sense to travel with light speed and black holds. However, scientists have not discovered the way to do it these are only theories and nothing has been proved.
I believe that this kind of travels in the line of time are possible, but not for mortal people like us. I believe that time is a matter of this earth, but for celestial beings do not rule their existence with time. So, when we leave this life... probably we can "travel" in time. But not now.
I don't believe we can travel the future or the past. I think it is impossible for us with the technology we have now. I know that traveling to the different time is relevant to the a kind of power of the universe. We can't control time for us since we don't have ability to do. Even though we can develop high-developed technology, we won't travel to the other times. I think that is impossible forever.
I don´t believe that time travel into the past or future will ever be possible. Because nobody from the future has traveled to the past. Indeed, we don´t any evidence that can prove that it exist. Humans have been wondered about time machines and create advance to make this possibl, however I consider that the mass of the body can travell trough time.
I believe that time travel into the past or future will ever be possible in some day in the future. However, before that, we need a lot of new scientific discoveries, based on these discoveries, humans may be sure about they can take a time travel. Meanwhile, the time travel will not like we think today, it will have a lot of limitations. Real world is not fiction novel, but at least you need to have dreams.
I think it is possible to invent a machine which can bring us to the future. All we need is a technology which allows traveling very close to the speed of light. But if we do, I do not think that we will need it. In case if we invent these machines, the time for the people who will travel by them just will slow down. Thus, after they finish their flights they will see the same place and the same people but only older and with some changes equal to the time passed on the Earth. This traveling does not make any sense, because people can do it without any machines. All they need for that is just to live on the Earth.
Let's think about it from a different perspective.. :) My grandparents didn't have a TV... they had only radio. Their parents didn't even have a radio, it wasn't invented at that time. My parents didn't have internet when they were growing up, they had no idea that one day it can become possible that a letter a letter can reach the person on the other side of the planet in couple of minutes ..... :) Thanks to internet!! :) So, we don't know what the world is going to look like in 50 years for examples... But I am ready to travel in time !! :))))
P.S. I remember how big my surprise was when have learned that we can put 32 Gigabits in 1 really small USB stick.... :) I still remember how I was using PC diskettes with small capacity.. :)

Every time that we see something on a movie, some technological advice that doesnt exist yet, years latter scientist work on it until they create it,Thanks to some movie we have clock phones, tablets, fast computers and other advises. Last week, a scientist show a new flying car. I think that it is very possible that someone builds a time machine. In this world every thing is possible.
